Queremos ver "Globalisation is good" por TVE

Estaría muy bien que la caja tonta emitiera cosas interesantes, y estaría mejor aún que emitiese un documental a favor de la globalización liberal. Esa globalización al que muchos tienen miedo y acusan de empobrecer a los más pobres y enriquecer a los más ricos.
Creo que sería bueno que de una vez por todas se pusiera toda la información sobre la mesa, no sólo la de los AntiGlobalización.

Yo por mi parte ya envié un mail hace unas semanas y no he recibido respuesta todavía. Vamos a ver si al recibir masivamente emails pidiéndolo se animan.

The polls show the American people are growing pessimistic about Iraq, and no wonder. They are being rallied against the cause by such statesmen as the two above. Six months after they repudiated the insurgency in a historic election, free Iraqis are continuing to make slow but steady political and military gains. Where the terrorists are gaining ground is in Washington, D.C.

This is despite tangible, albeit underreported, progress in Iraq. In the political arena, an Iraqi transition government has formed that includes representatives from all ethnic and religious groups. Leading Sunnis who boycotted January's election are now participating both in the parliament and in drafting a new constitution. The Shiite uprising of a year ago has been defeated. The government now has three deadlines to meet: drafting a constitution by August, a referendum on that constitution in October and elections for a permanent government in December.

Michael Ledeen cuenta sobre las elecciones presidenciales en Irán:

One of the reasons I have been so concerned about Iran for such a long time is that I fear the mullahs’ cleverness, ruthlessness, and ability to mount brilliant deceptions. Moreover, while there have long been basic fault lines within the mullahcracy, I have long believed they would find ways to pull together at moments of crisis.


The electoral fiasco of June 17 has shaken both of these convictions. They couldn’t even stage a phony election without appearing inept and thuggish, which is certainly not the image they wanted to send to the world. And the spectacle of intense internal conflict among leading figures in the Islamic republic makes me wonder if the revolution is beginning to devour its own fathers and sons.

First, the numbers. The regime had made it clear that the size of the turnout would indicate its legitimacy with the public, so they had to come up with big numbers. After hours of hilarious confusion, during which the "official" numbers oscillated wildly and different vote totals were announced by the interior ministry and the Council of Guardians, the regime finally decided to claim that something like 65 percent of eligible Iranians had voted. But most clear-eyed observers with the freedom to move around the country and actually go to polling places, found very few voters. The Mujahedin Khalq, the longtime allies of Saddam Hussein who have long been a source of information on things Iranian, estimated that the real figure was about 10 percent.

On the eve of Iran's presidential election, President Bush yesterday denounced Tehran's theocracy for manipulating the vote by eliminating candidates and ignoring the "basic requirements" of democracy. Whatever the election's outcome, power will continue to be held by "an unelected few" who are out of step with political changes sweeping the rest of the region, Bush said in a statement released by the White House.

The tough White House comment comes at a pivotal juncture in U.S.-Iranian relations and in Iran's political evolution. Seven candidates are vying today to replace President Mohammad Khatami, the reformist whose two-term tenure is ending without significantly changing the world's only modern theocracy. The next government will be in charge of negotiating with leaders of other nations on Iran's nuclear capability, a process -- currently deadlocked -- designed to ensure that Tehran cannot produce a nuclear weapon from its peaceful energy program.

Addressing the Iranian people, Bush added: "As you stand for your own liberty, the people of America stand with you."

Praising the ancient Persian civilization, Bush said Iranians deserve elections that put in power leaders who "answer to them instead of the other way around." The president also cited the "enormous gains" recently achieved in the Middle East, noting the democratic elections in Iraq and Afghanistan, which both border Iran, as well as this year's elections in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.

"Across the Middle East, hopeful change is taking place. People are claiming their liberty. And as a tide of freedom sweeps this region, it will also come eventually to Iran," Bush predicted.

Clashes rocked, this evening, several areas of the Iranian Capital as demonstrators were attacked by Islamic regime forces.

Several areas, such as, "vali e Asr", Rey, Zafar and the nearby Park e Mellat, Eslamshahr, Haft Hose, Rassol and Tajrish were affected.

Slogans against the Islamic regime and its leadership were shouted by demonstrators who retaliated to the regime's use of clubs and tear gas by throwing pieces of stone and incendiary devices.

One more time, the ridiculous and useless show, named the presidential election of the Islamic republic is on the way. The leaders of the ideological-theocratic regime, who more then ever find themselves in the abyss of fall and overthrowing of the entire unlawful and despotic regime, trying to take some of our unaware or under pressure citizens to the poll booth, with new deceits, which the result will be nothing but the continuation of crimes, injustice, inequality, more suffering, public hopelessness and specially the continuation of plundering and pillaging the national resources.

Yes, eight years ago in such days, the main part of those who could vote, especially the women and youth, went to the show polls of already appointed. They, in their beliefs, were willing to vote for “ a bad less than worse”, perhaps with less pay, causing better situations and resulting the transformation of the Mullah dogmatic regime. At that time these people were unaware of this basic, that the Islamic republic regime for its basis on reactionary-fascism reflection and the nature of Mafia – oligarchic, has no merit of basic reform. They did not know that the designers of that fallacious puppet – show, have no other purpose, but the continuation and preserving of their shameful political existence, under the contradictory and contain-less banner of “ Religious Leadership of People”.

The result of this historical mistake was nothing but the wave of riding a sector of reactionary of the clerics and old fashion technocrats with a mask called “reformism”, on the wave of the desires and natural inclinations of the oppressed and deprived people of Iran. Execution and murdering of freedom – lovers; exercising the mediaeval ages punishments; incarceration of journalists and closing the news papers; physical suppression and imprisoning the students; vanquishing the protesting movements including laborers, farmers, teachers and nurses; beating boys and girls; advancement of prostitution, addiction and social and administrative corruption; falling the cash value of Rial and the country economy; unemployment and ever-increasing inflation; irrational privatization of major industries in the form of business for the profits of sons or daughters of Akhoonds (aghazadeha); blackmail-like and shameful foreign contracts that are at the same level of disgraceful Tourkamanchi and Golestan contracts during Ghajars (dynasty preceding the Pahlavi Dynasty); embezzling the national resources; bestowing the major part of Iran share in Caspian Sea, are just part of the shameful and bloody report card of the wing called 2nd of Khordad and their devoted and inefficient symbol of them Mohammad Khatami.

But, by spreading the age of digital technology and public communication, a big part of those voters in the first round, quickly found out that the result of their __expression does not have any effect in their destiny. Yes, after four years and base on the official statistics, millions of them did not participate in the re-election of the president of the Islamic republic and causing disgracing the regime and informing the World of the ever growing gap between people and the government.

It is important to say, that in those days almost the public consternation and perplexity even have been taken over part of inside and outside classic oppositions and intellectuals, only a few intellectual and modernist groups like "Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran" (SMCCDI) and “National-Secular Party of Iran” were those who in their repeated analytic articles or in their statements, pointing out the necessary alarms about the dark torments of this religious charlatanism and opportunistic behavior of those of low-determination regime oppositions.

Intellectual students, laborers and champion hard-workers, government employees and people’s disciplinary forces, daring and champion women of Iran,

Now, after eight years of demagogy, the Islamic republic regime, for the pressure by the people and international, has been so despised and despicable that forced to bring out their main piece of their puppet-show marionette on the stage, perhaps some of the foreign governments continue reciting and condescension with a unmixed regime in hope of keeping illegal interests. What a futile dream!

Parts of the recent speech by Secretary of State about the flimsiness of election in Iran, and siding some of the European countries with The United States towards the Islamic regime, all are indicating the aggravation of pressure and revealing the regime main essence; and absence of the people at the poll booths, showing the right choice of the people in connection with the generality of Islamic republic.

No doubt, in all these equations, the protagonist and predestined role is played by a nation who, like before, with none participation in the variety of games by the regime and turn back to them, has dropped RafsanJani to the 30th in Tehran representatives and has slapped in the face of both factions of the regime! The oppressed youth and women of Iran never forget the savagery and decisiveness of the all factions of this people oppressor regime! Officers (Sardaran) and resigned founders of Sepah, The inefficient secretaries of 2nd of Khordad or other discharged men of the regime, never been accepted and been popular among the conscious people and never will be! Not the artificial and unreal productions but with very fast transient, not racial distinctions, not malingering to nationalism, not political bombings, and not the west approval shows of hired girls with make-up will necessarily prevent the fall of the anti-people and in-human regime!

Now, more than ever, this independent committee, which is the pioneer and promoter of the basic reflections of the “Iran Third Force, and organizer of the civil disobedience for years, stresses that after the attainment of the ideal of total abolition of Islamic republic, the free people of Iran must be able to select directly the type of their desired secular-democratic political system, in a free public election, and after that establishing a parliament for compilation of a constitution base on the transparent will of the people. It is obvious that going with the element of secularism, which does not have any contradiction with religion and the private beliefs of people, protecting the entirety of Land of Iran and observance of the national resources with respect to the purport of Universal Declaration of Human Rights will be another pillar of future Iran!

In this way, on June 17th, the Great and Freedom-lover People of Iran are going to add another honor and golden page to their fight and disobedient report card towards sending the Islamic republic into the dustbin of history, by staying at home and specially not participating in this last ridiculous election show.

Un titiritero americano en Irán

En la bogosfera norteamericana se está hablando mucho sobre la visita de Sean Penn a Irán ejerciendo como periodista para cubrir las elecciones iraníes.
Todo el mundo está ansioso por saber qué opina este titiritero sobre cómo vive la gente en Irán. También estamos ansiosos por ver si este valiente se atreve a criticar en el propio Irán todos los actos criminales que comete el régimen iraní. Es decir, critica mucho a EEUU, en EEUU dice lo que le da la real gana. Ahora queremos saber si hace lo mismo en Irán.
Por lo visto ya tiene al menos dos cosas que criticar; la disriminación de la mujer y posteriormente el hecho de que le hayan confiscado su cámara de vídeo tras las protestas de las manifestantes iraníes protestando contra la discriminación sexual.
También siento curiosidad sobre lo que dirá cuando miles y miles de iraníes boicoteen las elecciones y salgan masivamente a la calle manifestando su rechazo al régimen de los mullahs.
Que le retumben los oidos con los gritos de "azadi, azadi" (libertad, libertad).

M. Moore is indeed "beri" "beri" bad for the left

¿Os lo tiene que contar un lefty?, pues ale:

Q: In my experience, it’s almost impossible to persuade people on the Left to look at the allegations made against Moore. How have your friends on the Left reacted to the details of fabrications, etc, you have listed? Do you now expect to be "excommunicated"?

A: I must say that this has not at all been my experience. The idea of Moore as the universal darling of the Left is, I think, a product of the right-wing media. There's been quite a lot of criticism of Moore in the left-wing press--or what passes for it--off the top of my head I can think of pieces in Dissent, The New Republic, Salon, Slate, LA Weekly, Blueprint, Open Democracy, and numerous left-wing blogs. Believe it or not, there are great numbers of thoughtful liberals who despise Moore and consider him very bad for the left. Most of my friends are on the Left, and none of them respect him. Well, maybe one or two, with reservations and caveats. Far from "excommunicating" me, my friends have encouraged me by saying that what I'm doing is important for the health of the Left, and wished me success.

Pienso que Mamón Moore le hizo un gran favorcito a Bush en las pasadas elecciones con su conspiparanoia. Es decir, no se puede tomar por gilipollas a la gente de esta manera, y les salió el tiro por la culata a los Demócratas apoyando a semejante elemento.

De nuevo, enfrentamientos en las calles de Irán

Las protestas, manifestaciones, enfrentamientos no paran en Irán, de momento no son grandes multitudes, pero se producen por todo el país regularmente y creo que irá a mayores con el tiempo.
Esto, claro, no sale en los medios de comunicación tradicionales.

Disturbios despúes del partido de Irán:

Clashes or sporadic riot style protests are taking place in several provincial cities, such as, Hamedan, Tabriz, Mahabad, Keramshah, Mashad, Rasht, Mian-do-Ab, Abadan, Yazd, Kerman, Ghazvin and Oroomiah (former Rezai-e).

Groups of young are often retaliating to small groups of plainclothes men and Bassij paramilitary force.

Slogans calling for overthrow of the regime and even execution of clerics are shouted, such as, "Toop, Tank, Feshfeshe, Akhoond bayad koshte she" (Guns, Tanks, Cleric must be killed).

The number of injured is increasing as clashes are taking place in most areas of the Capital and several provincial cities.

Females, often young, are the majority among those brutalized by regime's plainclothes men and Bassij members.

Acid, Knives, chains or clubs have been used against most of them showing the deep respect of Iranian women by a regime which promotes the systematic Gender Apartheid policy.

In Guisha, Shahrak e Gharb, Gohardasht and Tajrish areas of Tehran several women were seen bleeding from faces or arms. Same kind of brutality have been reported from Mashad and Hamedan.

Tens, including many females, have been hospitalized due to the brutality used by Islamic regime's plainclothes men and members of the paramilitary Bassij force.

Several demonstrators have been injured due to the use of acid or knives while many other have been wounded by heavy clubs or chains.

Special sections of the security force's elite brigades started, in most cities, their massive crackdown after midnight by attacking those maverick demonstrators who persisted to stay and denounce the Islamist dictatorship.

In many cities, such as, Tehran, Esfahan, Shiraz and Mashad, angry demonstrators retaliated to the brutal attacks with pieces of stones, clubs, martial art and incendiary devices.

In the Greater Tehran's areas of Madar, Hafthose, Rey, Saadat Abad, Guisha, Sadeghie, Vali-e Asr, Eslamshahr, Tajrish and Azadi heavy damages were inflicted to public materials and buildings. Windows of tens of buses and offices or commercial entities affiliated to the Islamic regime were smashed by demonstrators.

Some of the Capital's avenues, such as, Azadi or Enghelab were covered with pieces of broken glace.

Most of regime's propaganda devices, such as, its sham electoral propaganda were brought down or set on fire.

Several militiamen were also injured in those clashes and several patrol vehicles or Militia's motorbikes were damaged or torched.

The National exasperation is to the point that young male demonstrators had in most occasion to create security belts around maverick females who persisted to stay and 'fight'.

The regime had tried to take the lead in order to calm the Iranians by offering celebration ceremonies but once again, Iranians turned them against it.

The cheerless creatures who rule the Islamic republic of Iran have developed a particularly wicked use of torture. Not only do they use the full panoply of physical and psychological horrors on their captives, but they then send the victims back into their homes and neighborhoods for brief periods of “parole” or “medical leave,” so that their friends and families can see with their own eyes the brutal effects of the torture. The clear intent of this practice is to intimidate the population at large, to break the will of would-be dissenters and opponents, and to maximize the effects of the victims themselves, for the brief respite from the pain of the prisons is mercilessly accompanied by the certainty that the agony will soon resume.


Thus, when a victim uses his time outside the torture chambers to call for the people of Iran to act against the regime, it warrants our attention. If the West had leaders willing to openly challenge the mullahs, or if the organizations who pretend to champion “human rights” were worthy of their own mission statements, we would know the names of these brave Iranians, and we would give them, and the Iranian people more broadly, the kind of support they deserve.

Ignorad a Europa

Es lo que le dice Aznar a Israel:

Israel need not pay much attention to Europe, which is using its Middle East policy to separate itself from the US, has a tendency toward appeasement and is largely pro-Palestinian, former Spanish prime minister Jose Maria Aznar told The Jerusalem Post Monday.

"Europe likes appeasement very much; this is one of the most important differences between us and the States," Aznar said in an interview on the Bar-Ilan University campus. "Europeans don't like any problems. They prefer appeasement."

Pilar Manjón lo ha acabado de arreglar

Ha acabado de arreglar su desafortunado comentario de ayer(y ya van y van). Ahora dice (hasta que diga otra cosa) que "jura" que nunca ha dicho que los hermanos de asesinados no son víctimas.
Pues yo "juro" que lo que oigo decir aquí es literalmente lo que dijo ayer.

Igual no lo sabían

pero los hermanos de los asesinados por ETA no son víctimas, eso dice la
Sra Manjón:

"Las víctimas somos víctimas y los hermanos, aunque sean presidentes de una asociación, no son víctimas. Los demás lo que pueden ser es víctimas solidarias".

No haría falta un comentario, porque estas declaraciones son tan tristes que se caen por su propio peso. Lo leí hace algunas horas, y tengo la costumbre de que cada vez que esta señora abre la boca, tranquilizarme y comentarlo después. Siempre he intentado hablar de ella con respeto, criticándola muy sutilmente y guardándome lo que realmente pienso de ella. Pero esta vez voy a ser un poco más sincero.
La Sra Manjón NO es absolutamente nadie para decir quiénes son víctimas y quiénes no. La Sra Manjón es una sectaria, una radical que ya ha perdido el poco respeto que la pudiera tener.
Hace algún tiempo, cuando Aznar fue a la comisión, dijo que la habían dicho que se metiera sus muertos por el culo. Los que estuvieron ahí eran compañeros míos, y nunca dirían semejante barbaridad, porque la criticamos por sus actos, no por su condición de víctima.
No puedo dejar de pensar que igual es justo ella la que piensa que a ver si los de la AVT se meten sus muertos por el culo y la dejan en paz a ella y a los demás proletariosVIP.

Despite highly publicized charges of U.S. mistreatment of prisoners at Guantanamo, the head of the Amnesty International USA said on Sunday the group doesn't "know for sure" that the military is running a "gulag."

Executive Director William Schulz said Amnesty, often cited worldwide for documenting human rights abuses, also did not know whether Secretary Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld approved severe torture methods such as beatings and starvation.

Schulz recently dubbed Rumsfeld an "apparent high-level architect of torture" in asserting he approved interrogation methods that violated international law.

"It would be fascinating to find out. I have no idea," Schulz told "Fox News Sunday."

Ayer no pude postear absolutamente nada ya que fui a la manifestación con numerosas personas, y habíamos quedado bastante antes, y despúes de la manifestación.
La manifestación ha sido un indiscutible éxito, indiscutible éxito también el de ZP, que en un año de gobierno ha conseguido que hubieran ya 2 manifestaciones multitudinarias; la anterior de la AVT y esta.Y eso que la derecha no es tan amiga de manifestaciones. Tanto talante, tanto diálogo, tanta transparencia, tanta honestidad, tanta sonrisa de la que presume ZP y en poco más de un año ha conseguido que se produciese una de las mayores manifestaciones en contra de su política. Pues va a ser que todo de lo que presume, carece y mucho.
Que dialogue, pero no con los asesinos hombre, con nosotros que no matamos a nadie, sólo nos matan.

Al haber quedado cerca de la manifestación bastantes horas antes de su inicio tuve la oportunidad de saludar a Francisco José Alcaraz, que se vio emocionado tras ver todo el apoyo que recibe por parte de la sociedad española. Faltaría más, mucho les debemos a las víctimas, que han muerto por la libertad, por nuestra libertad.
También pude ver la entrada de los cientos y cientos de autobuses que llegaban de todas partes de España, todos en una fila. !Impresionante!
Todas esas personas que venían de otras zonas de España para apoyar a la víctimas, para manifestar su NO al diálogo a ETA, para manifestar que estamos hartos del menosprecio que ZP tiene a una gran parte de la sociedad, hartos y enfadados del ninguneo y el intentar desprestigiar y dividir a las víctimas, hartos de las mentiras, de la manipulación, de los engaños, de la irresponsabilidad y de la incompetencia de un gobierno que sigue dale que te pego con el talante y el diálogo inexistentes.
Fuimos entre 850.000 y un millón de personas, o entre 3 o 4 gatos según los PFFR. Casi un millón de personas que recorrimos durante horas las calles de Madrid, sin ningún incidente, tranquilo y pacífico.
Zapatero también ha hecho unas declaraciones con respecto a la manifestación, diciendo que "escucha con respeto a quienes se manifestaron este sábado en Madrid, que desde que gobierna el PSOE ya nadie insulta a los manifestantes ni llamamos a nadie líder de pancartas"
Desde que gobierna el PSOE no sólo ha insultado a los manifestantes, sino que además de detener ilegalmente a dos manifestantes que tuvieron la mala suerte de estar cerca de un miembro del PSOE, de llamar a miembros del PP y manifestantes extrema derecha, han insultado y ninguneado a las víctimas de ETA, y no sólo víctimas del PP, no, también las víctimas de su propio partido.
Desde que gobierna el PSOE ya no hay "pacifistas" por la calle ejerciendo la violencia, hay personas que no van presumiendo y yendo de pacifistas y que luego, sí que se comportan pafícicamente.

No nos hemos manifestado por nada, que escuche a la gente, que se eche flores si rectifica. Podremos soportar esa demagogia, pero que no tire por la borda lo que habíamos conseguido estos últimos años, que no se arriesgue a hacer locuras, porque esto le explotará en la cara y a todos nosotros nos pilla por medio.

Madrid, 2 de junio de 2005.



1.-El 4 de junio la España civil y democrática de Ermua va a decir, junto a la Asociación de Víctimas del Terrorismo, no a la negociación con ETA, no a las condiciones del chantaje, no a las contrapartidas políticas ni penitenciarias para que ETA acepte el juego limpio de nuestro sistema de libertades y haga lo que hacemos todos nosotros sin que hayamos exigido nunca nada a cambio que no sea el premio de la propia democracia. Para que digas con nuestra pancarta ese "no" al chantaje que es un "sí" decidido a la libertad, a la memoria de las víctimas y al sentido de su generosidad, nos dirigimos a ti, que eres como nosotros, que tienes nuestra edad y que tantas veces te has rebelado por dentro contra el terror de ETA y la complacencia de sus cómplices. El próximo sábado 4 de junio vas a tener una gran ocasión de mostrar en público esa íntima rebeldía.



2.-Quienes componemos la Juventudes Unificadas del Foro Ermua somos todos militantes del constitucionalismo y muchos de nosotros concejales del País Vasco que tenemos que ir escoltados hasta cuando nos despedimos en los portales de nuestras parejas después de haber ido al cine o a dar un paseo. Nos hemos acostumbrado a convivir con el terror y a vivir diariamente una situación inadmisible sólo por expresar nuestras ideas. Todos hemos nacido en la democracia pero no hemos conocido un solo día de nuestra vida sin ETA y sin la presión de ese nacionalismo obligatorio, totalitario y cómplice de ETA. Muchos hemos perdido a personas cercanas y alguno ya sabe, entre nosotros, lo que es recibir la noticia de que ETA planeaba asesinarle. Por eso te pedimos que vengas, que te solidarices y que te rebeles con nosotros, que des sentido a nuestra lucha democrática contra ETA y contra el nazismo de hoy.



3.-Contra los nazis de ayer nada podemos hacer y además ya fueron derrotados. Pero podemos hacer algo -¡podemos hacer mucho!- contra los nazis de hoy. Tú tienes con nosotros la posibilidad de contribuir a derrotar a este Hitler de aquí y de ahora que es ETA. Tienes la oportunidad de abrazar la última causa romántica y democrática de Europa. No la dejes pasar. No digas que no se puede hacer nada y que no tienes causas por las que luchar. Te pedimos que no mires hacia otro lado el próximo sábado, 4 de junio.



4.-Con una situación como la nuestra es comprensible que nos duela y nos indigne que algunos quieran monopolizar a “la juventud vasca”: precisamente lo hacen quienes presentar a los escuadristas de la "kale borroka", a las juventudes hitlerianas de Jarrai-Haika-Segi encausadas en el macrojuicio contra la trama social de ETA como si fueran "la genuina juventud vasca". Nosotros somos tan jóvenes como ellos o más porque creemos en la libertad, porque estamos pagando un caro precio por ella y porque estamos haciendo día a día la España cívica y solidaria con la que ellos quieren acabar. Quisiéramos explicarte esto y tantas cosas. Aunque tú no hayas vivido nuestra experiencia, aunque te parezca insólita, te pedimos que nos ayudes en esta revuelta democrática. Todos los jóvenes de todas las tierras de España (Euskadi, Navarra, Cataluña, Andalucía, Castilla, Levante, Galicia o Extremadura) tenemos mucho en común: al menos respetar la vida y a la libertad y abominar de la tiranía.



5.-Cuando las jornadas de julio de 1997 tras el asesinato de Miguel Ángel Blanco muchos de nosotros éramos pequeños pero salimos a la calle y nos movilizamos para decirle "no" a ETA y "no" al chantaje que le costó la vida al concejal de Ermua. Luego nos hemos ido acercando al foro cívico que se creó tomando la referencia de aquella revolución democrática de julio, hemos ido creando dentro de este colectivo un núcleo joven y hemos dado el salto a toda España. En las Juventudes Unificadas del Foro Ermua estamos gente que coincidimos en lo importante y que hemos trabajando juntos, codo con codo en las manifestaciones constitucionalistas del País Vasco siendo de diferentes partidos o de ninguno de ellos. Por eso queremos que la manifestación del 4 de junio sea lo más plural posible. Nosotros no te vamos a pedir el carné como en los tiempos de Franco y como hacen los nacionalistas. Aquí caben todos los carnés, todas las banderas, todas las siglas, todos los símbolos que signifiquen democracia.



6.-Nosotros trabajaremos para que ese día sea una lección de unidad ciudadana y cultura de la convivencia, la cultura democrática de Ermua y de aquel manifiesto fundacional del 13 de febrero de 1998 que redactaron entonces “nuestros amigos mayores del Foro” y que exigía "de los partidos y representantes políticos que no consientan ni insinúen especie alguna de transacción o formalización de acuerdos sobre las exigencias políticas de ETA pues una cesión al chantaje de las armas significaría la quiebra de la legitimidad democrática".

Que tendrá un éxito arrollador seguro; entre 450 y 550 autobuses llegarán de todas las zonas de España, lo que serían entre 27.000 y 33.000 personas aparte de los de Madrid que estaremos ahí.

Un 92% de iraníes no acudirán a las "elecciones" presidenciales en Irán

Ya os comenté que muchos iraníes intentarían boycotear las elecciones para manifestar su rechazo al régimen islámico y por la implantación de una verdadera democracia en Irán, y según una encuesta que podéis leer en RCI, un 92% de los iraníes así lo harán:

A nationwide survey conducted by an Iranian opposition group showed widespread voter apathy in Iran's upcoming June 17 presidential elections.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) said in a press release that a survey of 1,730 adults eligible to vote showed that 92 percent of voters intend to boycott the elections. The survey was based on interviews conducted between May 27 and May 30, 2005

¿Cómo pueden comportarse como si nada estuviera pasando?"

Esto es lo que se pregunta este héroe por la paz:

"¿Dónde están las millones de personas que marcharon contra la guerra?", me increpa. "¿Cómo pueden comportarse como si nada estuviera pasando?"

Su historia:

El 2 de junio de 2001 se instaló frente a Westminster, sede del Parlamento británico, y aunque han intentado moverlo -a veces a la fuerza y otras por medio de recursos legales- no lo han conseguido: Brian Haw sigue alzando su voz a favor de la paz. Las 24 horas, sin descanso.

Hace 4 años se instaló en frente de la sede del Parlamento británico para protestar contra "las guerras"(encomillado sí, porque no son todas las guerras las que importan, sólo las que hace occidente) y por la paz.
A su pregunta de "¿Cómo pueden comportarse como si nada estuviera pasando?" le respondería que se comportan igual que él cuando Saddam masacraba a su gente, se comportan igual que él olvidando las demás guerras, se comportan igual que él olvidando todos los regímenes genocidas que hay en el mundo, se comportan igual que él callando ante el genocidio de Darfur, ante el genocidio de Ruanda, etc...

Siempre me ha sorprendido esa capacidad de sensibilidad selectiva que tiene algunos. Me acuerdo de las manifestaciones contra la guerra de Irak, la gente gritaba paz, asesinos, vais a matar a niños y mujeres iraquíes, indignante. Y no podía dejar de pensar en cómo hacían para sacar de su mente, de su sensibilidad las consecuencias que supondría el "No a la Guerra"; Saddam masacrando a su gusto.
En fin, supongo que esta sensibilidad selectiva seguirá para siempre, pero por muchas vueltas que le dé, no consigo entender esa capacidad.

Numerous key positions — including the State Department’s top slot, vacated at the end of last year by Cofer Black, and the head of the new counterterrorism center — are vacant, and the National Security Council is working hard to define our current strategy, led by the impressive Frances Townsend.


After nearly four years?

Indeed, if you talk to military officers engaged in the GWOT, more often than not you will hear a lament, because that war has yet to be defined. Despite all of the president’s tough talk, despite the often extraordinary performance of our soldiers and some notable accomplishments by intelligence officers, the "enemy" remains vague, and we are mainly playing a sucker’s game of responding to attacks and helping those who help us on the ground, as in post-Fallujah Iraq. Our other main claim to fame in fighting terrorism, Afghanistan, is currently suffering from cynical neglect by us and our allies, and from considerable corruption, some of it our own.

Another Turning Point
In short, as the president’s critics are rightly reminding him, more time has passed since 9/11 than transpired between Pearl Harbor and the surrender of the Japanese empire, and our most lethal enemies are still in power and still killing our people and our friends. It is good that the desire for freedom is now manifest among the oppressed peoples of the Middle East and Central Asia, and it is very good that dramatic strides toward self-government have been taken by the Georgians, Kyrgistanis, Ukrainians, Iraqis, and Lebanese. But it is not good enough. Indeed, it is shameful that we have yet to seriously challenge the legitimacy of the terror masters in Tehran and Damascus, who represent the keystone of the terrorist edifice.

Ledeen le exige a la Administración Bush que siga adelante con expandir la libertad y la democracia por Oriente Medio, que no calle ante las injusticias que cometen los tiranos contra su propia gente, que no traiccione a las gentes que se juegan la vida para conquistar la libertad.
Es así, los peligros no se van a ir desarmando tiranos o obligandoles a dejar de colaborar con terroristas. Sólo ofrecer democracia y libertad podrá evitar la amenaza que suponen estos tiranos para el resto del planeta y a su propio pueblo.

A vosotros, los que os ponéis la camiseta con el Che

Si yo sé que la imagen del Che es muy chula, también entiendo que el mito del Che es muy bonito, y que queda super guay llevar la camiseta del Che, aunque ni siquiera sepas quién coño era el Che.

En las manifestaciones "pacifistas" hay mucha gente que acude con la camiseta del Che, lo cual es un poco contradictorio ¿no? llevar la cara de un asesino y luego ir de pacifista. Tampoco hay que sorprenderse por esta contradicción, ya estamos acostumbrados. Por algo pongo, y no soy el único, "pacifistas" (con comillas) y no pacifistas, porque aunque vayan de pacifistas no lo son.

Me da que va a ser que NO ++++

Según he podido leer en la prensa holandesa, el NO no será un NO al gobierno, sino que este NO, tiene que ver con la desconfianza que genera la Constitución Europea. La gente desconfía de la entrada de Turquía, no se fían de un texto tan largo y complicado, el Euro no ha sido tan positivo como debería, se pierde poder y según tengo entendido los ciudadanos holandeses son de los que más pagan por cabeza a la UE, aunque he estado buscando información oficial sobre ello no me ha sido posible encontrar la fuente que lo confirme.
Ahora mismo en Amsterdam hay bastantes votantes y el sentimiento general es que la mayoría está votando NO.
En Nijmegen, Arnhem y Tiel hay también una participación alta, y según los comentarios que se hacen parece que la mayoría está votando NO.

Me acabo de encontrar con una tabla que presenta porcentaje de voto de votantes de cada partido:


Partidos:CDA -Llamamiento Cristiano Demócrata- (conservador), PvdA -el Partido Laborista- (centro-izquierda), VVD -el Partido Popular para la Libertad y la Democracia- (centro-derecha), y D66 -Democracia 66- (centro-izquierda), SP (Izquierda), GL - Groen links- (izquierda verde) .

En el apartado de abajo aparecen los votantes a favor (Voorstemmers) y los votantes en contra (tegenstemeers).
Socialistas (PvdA y SP) y liberales (VVD) votan mayoritariamente en contra.

La participación está siendo alta (holandés) en comparación con la participación que hubo en las pasadas elecciones al Parlamento Europeo. 24% hasta las 14:00 H de la tarde, 9% más que en las elecciones al Parlameto Europeo.

A las 16:00 H la participación era de un 31%.
Los últimos sondeos de hoy indican que habrá un 54% en contra y un 46% a favor.
Estoy siguiendo las actualizaciones a través del diario De Telegraaf y la información sobre la participación llega un poco tarde al diario. Así que no sé si habrá una nueva actualización sobre la participación antes de las 21:00 h, que es cuando ya podrán ir dando los primeros pronósticos.
No me parece que haya una alta participación pero en la prensa holandesa sí que la están considerando relativamente alta.

Me tuve que ausentar justo en el momento que iban anunciando resultados. En
Libertad Digital ya lo han anunciado; Holanda vota masivamente NO al tratado: 63% votó "tegen" (en contra), con incluso una alta participación del 62%. Más claro que el agua.
Leo, además, en de Telegraaf que según Interview-NSS un 58% de los 2000 encuestados no creen que el gobierno de Balkenende deba dimitir, el 26% cree que sí. Yo estoy de acuerdo con la mayoría; no era un voto de castigo al gobierno, el NO iba dirigido a la Constitución Europea.
Se ha preguntado también si creen que dentro de un año se deba celebrar de nuevo el referéndum; un 44% opina que es una buena idea y un 46% opina que no es una buena idea.
Con el tiempo se podrá ir viendo lo que ha ido votando cada provincia aquí.

Ya he puesto los motivos al principio del post por lo que los holandeses votaban principalmente NO. Y espero que no me salga el camarada Llamazares diciendo que ha sido NO mayoritario de izquierdas, porque gran parte de la izquierda ha votado NO, pero también una gran parte de los liberales han votado que NO.

Ya estamos: Alemania y Francia

En este artículo de Olivier Guitta se pueden leer cosas interesantes como estas:

Especially when two of them -France and Germany- happen to be the two largest trade partners of Iran. In light of this, if no deal is brokered, then France and Germany are going to be very reluctant to send the issue to the United Nations Security Council because of the ensuing risk of losing juicy contracts with the mullahs’ regime. Mrs Palacio agreed with that assertion and added: “knowing the Iranians and other data, I am not honestly optimistic on reaching a deal.” She nonetheless said: “we should give it a chance” just only because of the new consensus between the EU-3 and the USA.

It looks like Iran and the EU-3 agree on one thing though: make the negotiations last as long as possible. For Iran, it is a way to avoid a heads-on confrontation with Washington; and for Europe it postpones almost indefinitely any UN Security Council involvement.

Second, because of the enormous commercial interests at stake, the EU- 3 cannot be viewed as an honest broker. And the young Iranians who were demonstrating on March 15 and burnt the French flag, knew that quite well. France and Germany are considered very good friends of the regime. And rightly so.

As in Iraq before Saddam Hussein’s fall, Germany and France happen to be the two largest suppliers of goods to Iran: according to the CIA World Factbook, in 2003, Germany is first, supplying 11% of Iran’s imports, France second with 8.6 %. Indeed France’s investments alone amount to a staggering $35 Billion, not including the very expensive oil and gas ventures. Also, recently the French Ambassador to Iran, Francois Nicoullaud, boasted about the ever- increasing presence of French companies in Iran. Additionnally, these two countries provide 100% of Iranian imports of industrial machines and equipment. The Iranian market is all the more important for Germany and France today because they have lost their lucrative contracts in Iraq.
But keep in mind that even if the EU-3 accepted going to the United Nations Security Council, China and Russia would most probably veto any resolutions punishing Iran - for the same reason: China is the third largest exporter to Iran, and Russia the seventh.


Time is running out and Iran is getting closer by the day to getting the Bomb. The diplomatic option is dead in the water. According to many military experts, the military option is not looking too good either, because of bad intelligence assets on the grounds, dispersed underground sites and potential disastrous repercussions. Two recently formed Washington DC think tanks, the Iran Freedom Foundation and the Iran Policy Committee (IPC), are advocating a third solution: regime change initiated by Iranians. At a recent AIPAC conference, Defense expert Richard Perle advocated a mix of tough economic and diplomatic sanctions combined with help to dissidents. This looks like the only realistic option to solve this thorny, dangerous and most pressing issue.
